About Revisions

Revisions is an archive of South African art drawn from the Bruce Campbell Smith Collection, spanning the 1920s to the present. In seeking to expand the narrative of South African art, it places particular focus on modern Black artists historically excluded from the country’s art canon under apartheid and imposed Western cultural conventions. Revisions exists to support education, access, and the ongoing re-evaluation of South African art history.
