Training: Studied at Witwatersrand Technical College under Emily Fern, James Gardner and Alan Gourley; 1937: Went to the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, Paris under Colarossi and the Académie Ranson with Mandlebaum. In 1948 studied sculpture under Ossip Zadkine (1890-1967), also in Paris.
Selected Exhibitions; Participated in numerous group exhibitions both in South Africa and abroad (Paris, London, Rome, New York); from 1939 held solo exhibitions in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria. 1940: Solo exhibition, Gainsborough Gallery, Johannesburg; 1941: New Group’s 4th exhibition, Argus Gallery, Cape Town; 1944: Solo exhibition, Gainsborough Gallery, Johannesburg. 1946: Solo exhibition, Argus Gallery, Cape Town; 1973: Posthumous exhibition held at the Pretoria Art Museum.
