Zamani Romeo Makhanya
Born in Lamontville, Durban, Zamani Makhanya experienced the trauma of losing his brothers one after the other to genetic heart-related conditions. The youngest in his family, Makhanya enrolled at the University of Fort Hare in 1979 and graduated in 1985 with both an Honours Degree in Fine Arts and a Higher Diploma in Education.
